So happy for this group! Thanks Tom!
I have been having a slow start with a new computer after a laptop crash and programs corrupted so I'm a few days late getting here.
I have collected and admired antique and classic autos and parts for years then owned a used car lot for a few years and did a lot of R&R and total rehab of some cars and aquired a bit more knowledge and a lot of "stuff" too :)
I'm not a mechanic, only a mechanic's helper so I really enjoy discussing and sharing about car parts/mysteries etc. and selling parts at fair and enjoyable prices.
I have sold Model T & A parts in the past and really enjoyed all the buyers-nicest people on the net are the classic/vintage car people! I have a few model T parts left, but they're mostly big so it'd be local pickup but I do have many hours-years of researching them on an amateur basis.
Right now I have boxes of vintage VW & Porsche parts that I'm not very familiar with but do have a Bonanzle customer in Australia and a Bonanzle seller's son in Germany helping me out to identify and price the parts.
I just listed 2 Bosch Porsche 356 E1 headlights. They were selling on the bay for as much as 450 a pair and so I listed each at 150 on Bonanzle, but my German friend told me that you can buy them new in Germany for 150 pr so I lowered the price of each down to 79. Anyone have any opinions on how valuable German parts are here in the US in relation to Germany?
I've mostly used the bay as my pricing levels and usually just list parts a little lower than other people on the bay because I do it mainly as a hobby. I couldn't help collecting parts at sales and auctions for quite a few years....now just need to clear out the garage to move some day.
I also have mystery American parts and some vintage GM Delco-Remy parts...I wasn't alive when they were made so it's a little tricky to identify them. I'd really appreciate some opinions on the parts I have listed in my booth and constructive (kind) critiques :)
Thanks and I am going to try and invite as many people and customers to this group as possible!
