1930's Lone Star Quilt ~ Tex Mex Style!

This is a perfect example of a 1930's Lone Star Cotton Quilt. With it's bright colors, I think it looks Tex Mex...a term we use quite often in south Texas, for language, food, clothing, housing, decor, and anything that reflects on the mixed Texas / Mexican culture, that is prevalent here.
I have it listed for sale at my website: www.Luv2LuvAntiques.com

I believe my grandfather made the quilt in the 1950s. He died in the early 60s and the quilt was completed by that time. So, I'm guessing the quilt is at least 50 years old. I'll see about getting some close ups of the new quilt once I get it. Of course, you'll have to wait until I get the film developed. I tried a digital and just couldn't figure out all those little knobs and buttons. :) N

Hi Nancy! Welcome! Thank you for posting! As I mentioned to you, I think the quilt top looks like the 1960's, but could you post quite a few more pictures showing the squares in closer shots? I'd luv to look them up in my Dating Fabrics 2 book, that just arrived Wed.!
The quilt your grandfather made is quite "sharp"! About what time period are you talking about?

Hey Diane: Nice talking to you tonight. You are so much fun to visit with. Here's the quilt I was telling you about. My grandfather made one for each of his sons while he was battling cancer and this is the one that was handed down to me when my dad died. I love this quilt. It's huge.

I found a wonderful deal on Bonanzle yesterday and I'm so excited about it. I came across a vintage bark cloth quilt top and just had to get it. It's so pretty and I can hardly wait to get it and see what I can do with it. I'll need any and all suggestions on how to take care of this and if I should split it and make two hanging quilts, it's 48 x 96. Hope to hear from somebody soon. Nancy
