The Bonanzler's Network

Buyers and Sellers of Everything but the Ordinary

Does anyone know how to post a live link in the item description? I got the bright idea of posting my LinkReferral link in the item description of each listing. I cannot get it to go live. I've inserted a space after the line . . . didn't work. Then I hit the return (which is how I do it in emails) and that didn't work.

Sooooooo. Can anyone help?

Hi Ilene,

I'm not sure if I fully understand but will try to help you if I can , please take a look at my page http://bonanzle.ning.com/profile/Ralph and in the description box you will seee what I did there, are you trying to do something along those lines with a link ?

If so I will see if I can help you there.

Hi, Ilene.

In the item description of a photo, you can add any live links you like, but you have to insert them as a regular html tagged link.

if you would like an example, see the link for a picture on our ning site at http://greenspot.ning.com/photo/vintage-oak-office-chair

Here you will see the picture contains links to paypal, images, a map, and to email as well.

Unfortunately there is no html editor in the picture descriptions... so you might want to use another HTML tool to prepare the content and then just copy and paste in the area where the picture asks for more details.

I sometimes use blogger tools (which show regular and html views) to create descriptions, then just copy and past into the picture description on a ning.

In short. you need to insert a link like thie.

(a href=http://mylink.com) LINK HERE (a)
you need to substittue < for ( and > for ) in the above.

cheers

Hi, Vince. Lovely page and I love your products. I love the fact that you have all relevant information included in your picture. Makes perfect sense. BUT, I'm totally confused by to your explanation as to how to do it. Not your fault, it's my lack of understanding. If you can figure out how to explain it in words a 1-year-old can understand, I'd love to see it. Thanks for your input.

Ilene, as much as I would like to help, I found that Tom's post about the photo listings is actually quite direct,
See http://bonanzle.ning.com/forum/topics/photo-guide

I guess the problem you are having is with finding out what your bonanzle item link is?

Go to your item on bonanzle, in the navigation bar, you will see the URL shown.
Copy that url, that's the one you would paste into the area Tom describes in his post.
To be clear.
View this item by <a href="THE URL IN the top navigation bar showing when you view your item" target="_blank">CLICKING HERE </a>

You have to substitute the part shown above with the URL you copied from your bonanzle item.
Then copy/paste this into your item description and you're done.

HTH.

Thanks, Vince. I almost mastered Tom's instructions, bur he kept telling me that it wasn't quiet right. After looking at your link above, I think I now understand what he meant. I'll give it a shot.

I put the link referral banner in my description. I did my description, hit source which will show html, copied the code for my link referral button, went to the end of my html, went down a line, pasted code in description, hit source button again, went back to the reg. description page, check to see where my banner was located...changed position just be clicking on it and centering it. You can see what it looks like here...http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/junebug46/items/Lefton_Carousel_Coll...

Well, that is just neat! Never thought of putting my LR code in my listings. By the way, I tried to leave a comment in you "live chat" box, but clicking on your profile brought up "Bonazle not available" message. Tried a few minutes later and got through. Happened a few times lately, mostly from twitter. Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll give that a shot.
