The Bonanzler's Network

Buyers and Sellers of Everything but the Ordinary

I'm trying real hard to be upbeat and positive and patient and all those things that make us happy people. But it is getting discouraging to be not only not selling, but not even getting many looks and absolutely no offers..............

I'm just curious if it's because I need to bathe, or is it my pricing, or do I just have everyday junk out there?

I'm not making a fortune, but I do have steady sales. Most everything I sell is vintage ...from the 1970 and earlier.

Well that's encouraging..............maybe it's as simply as "no one wants my stuff" LOL........that is a distinct possibility.

Hi Rita! Things are slow for me too. Bonanzle is not a destination for vintage clothing at this point. I've had my booth open since mid December and set up google base uploads pretty much right away. I sold an Old West vintage style vest in the first month, but ended up refunding and accepting a return - a guy bought it for himself without reading measurements, or noticing that it was on a female ammnequin and buttoned girl style, LOL. I had a large sale of 8 pairs of NOS jeans in mid January that I lured away from eBay, saving myself about $15 in fees. And this week, I sold a men's shirt. That's it so far.
I have nearly 200 listings in the booth, and seem to be averaging 10-15 booth views a day. Way low. But listing is free, which helps a lot, and the site keeps growing, and the overall buzz is good. And I remember traffic and google hits for my website were quite low the first 3-6 months too, and I was told it took a while for indexing etc.
Almost everything on bonanzle is double listed on ebay - I'd love to close my store there, but can't do that until/unless I'm selling more steadily on bonanzle.

I hear ya Mags.............so far I haven't listed any clothing or patterns on Bonanzle..........I'm not sure I can get into the double listing mode. I know that a lot of people do that..............but I'm afraid to try, for fear of double selling something............LOL...although apologizing for not having it would be better than not selling it at all...........BWAHAHAHAHA

Well Rita, If you are like me... How could anyone NOT love my stuff! Most people who sell vintage do so cause they really enjoy it. Sometime when I sell something, I'm not sure if I want to see it go.... SIGH

Hi Rita, I've been selling on Bonanzle, I do auctions which is a bit different on the site, but I know many others are selling there. Your in the right place here, because I think you'll get some great advice and help if you ask the right questions. Tom's made a great looking Bonanzle networking site and this is a great branch of the Bonanzle community.

In the future it might be helpful if when you ask those kinds of questions if you post a link to your Bonanzle booth so those that wish to help you and critque it can find it easily.

Good luck,

AW

That's a good idea, Wally. Thanks for the heads up.

It's just hard for me to remember to post it every time. (memory being the worst of the aging factors) I wonder if we can create "signature" in Ning? That way we wouldn't have to go copy and paste every time we post..........off to look for that function. But ya know, my booth is listed on the My Page..........everyone should have all their sites listed on their My Page.

I know the feeling but.......Bonanzle is still very new and although a lot of sellers know about it, the buyers still havent heard, especially the occasional buyers who only go to as site when they are looking for something.

I am spreading the word on all internet communities that I belong to about Bonanzle, bit buy bit, and have the Bonanzle link on my Skype etc. The last one is causing a lot of curiousity and people are asking me what is "bonanzling"?

It works, a friend of mine went straight in to search for a gift for her grandchild. Couldnt find it, so I put up a thread in the Wanted forum on the site and received lots of help, located the item and "hey presto", one new satisfied buyer, a product sold through Bonanzle. And what is more, she said she enjoyed it a lot more than buying on "you know where" as everyone was so friendly and she had a real time "walk throughç" of the buying procedure through the live chat!!
I am sure she will recommend Bonanzle to her friends now.

If we all do little things like that, it wont take long before people start to think to look for us when they are looking to buy.

I'm willing to wait until the buyers show up. I know it won't happen over night. It took my website nearly a year to generate sales I was happy with...............and I too am promoting it everywhere...........especially the EveryplaceIsell link..........that is one of the best things to come along in a long time.

I was just curious if anyone in my categories was having any activity.

And I STILL have to list over there, cause something has to pay the rent.......and I do like to eat at least once a day. LOL

That is the difficult part for those of us whose ENTIRE livelihood depends on internet sales.

We don't always have the where-with-all to wait it out. 'Cause the bills have to be paid.

But I intend to hang and see what happens....and I don't mean to sound negative..........but just painting a rosy picture and cheering from the sidelines doesn't create sales or generate income. And each of us must spend our valuable time on what generates the most income.

Hi Rita,

I've been dead myself--I think with antiques and collectibles at this still early phase of Bonanzle sales are going to vary greatly from seller to seller as the buyers one by one come in the door and create demand for the various niches.

I'm in your boat too, this is my job, but on the bright side, it doesn't cost anything to keep your listings up. Not even much insofar as time once they're listed. Just keep on listing and promoting and if Bonanzle's short history is anything to go by then the buyer's will continue to grow in number month to month and eventually they'll find your niche.

For now, my living is largely eBay, but I hope to see Bonanzle begin to put a dent in that later this year.

Best of luck, Cliff

Is this site private or do the topics here end up in google search? I too have been cencerned about the negativity of all the "no sales" threads on the main bonanzle boards.
